Got this yesterday in record time.Was packed great and very easy setup.Best and easiestI have ever done.So far wonderful!

The Asus G53SX is a powerful machine -- when it is working. Plays all games at "ultra" settings without breathing hard and at an attractive price point.However, the video card failed after only one week. Suddenly, the lcd screen remains dark during boot. It is either the screen or video card that is faulty since (fortunately) the video out port works when I plug in an external monitor. This enabled me to recover my files. This problem is apparently a known issue and more common than should be acceptable to any manufacturer. Searching the Web you'll find numerous incidents of this problem with other owners of Asus' Republic of Gaming machines (both G73 and G53 models). In fact there is a You Tube video showing another frustrated owner with this issue.As powerful this machine is and as sweet as it is to use -- when in working condition. My advice is to avoid this machine until this issue is fixed. Or take your chances and get frustrated with a machine that costs $1400+/- with a known history of failure. Apparently Asus has an issue with quality control of their notebooks or are ignoring the issue as a cost of doing business.Update:After getting little satisfaction from Asus Support, Amazon stepped in and reaffirmed their commitment to excellent customer service. What is there not to love about this laptop? I was agonising for a while between this laptop and the slightly cheaper ASUS Republic of Gamers G74SX-DH73-3D. The DH73-3D has 12 Gb of RAM,a whopping 1.5Tb HDD and 3D gaming. However, I eventually chose this laptop because I love the 160Gb SSD +750Gb HDD combination and the more powerful 16Gb of RAM, and since I am not a serious gamer, 3D gaming is not relevant to me. For me this laptop is worth every penny. The SSD runs the OS and other programmes and runs them so smoothly and quietly. My son has a gaming laptop with 8Gb RAM and regular HDD drive and we are both surprised at how quiet this laptop is--the computer runs via the SSD and the lack of moving parts shows. The fan and cooling system is also amazingly quiet--it does its job very well. The laptop never warms up and I don't use it with a chill mat--so despite its bigger size, I find it easier and less cumbersome to use on my lap than my other 15in laptop+ chill mat combo. It is somewhat chunky but packs so much into the package.The SSD is awesome--it runs so quickly. Compared to my son's gaming laptop with 8Gb RAM and HDD, this laptop boots and shuts down in seconds and runs all my various functions like microsoft office, adobe etc very fast. Now my limiting factor is with the internet--it can only run as fast as the internet permits. Other than that, everything runs with amazing speed. If your looking for a laptop, that could essentially replace a desktop, then you may wanna highly consider this one.with all the high end specs, it is definitely worth it, and the price is right. I listen to a lot of music, some has lots of bass,but no matter what it sounds great. I also play games on it, the graphic are just simply put, amazing. Day or nighti can clearly see the keyboard,which by the way work very well, and feels great. although, when i hit the volume button,it make a loud beeping sound, and i cant quite figureout how to make it stop, so that one downer...also the mouse buttonshave quite a loud click... but over all this is an amazing computer, and Toshiba did it again :D >-HOPE THIS HELPED-<

Overall the Asus G74sx-A1 is a solid computer. I have had it now for over 48 hours and it runs fast and flawlessly. The things I use this laptop for is gaming. The reason I like this laptop more than others out there is its superior design. The cooling system for this laptop is excellent. The bottom of the laptop has no vents for air so you can have it on your lap without plugging up the air vents. The system stays remarkably cool and you will not need an additional cooling system for this laptop. The laptop is quiet to the ear and looks like a monster of a computer. The touchpad is large and excellent. The sound quality is mediocre. One way to improve sound is to go into creative THX and set the speaker mode to external speakers. This improved my sound enormously but has to be done each time the computer is rebooted.** I found a fix for the sound. You can have thx run on startup with the external speaker mode enabled.**Pros:FastCheap in priceLaptop ReplacementCons:Sound Quality is low but better than normal laptopsKeyboard takes getting used to. Sometimes key preses are missed because you have to make sure you press firmly enough.

I was very excited to purchase a new projector as my last projector (ASKproxima/InFocus machine) died after quite a bit of use over 5-6 years. I anticipated some noteworthy advances in technology but this particular model came up short. I use my projector for both instruction in the classroom as well as home movie watching use. This projector was touted as being especially for teachers but it is really too large to easily transport. Furthermore their was no carrying case included (vs. my last projector which had a soft case with shoulder strap). After 5 years the fan noise was actually slighty worse. The blue LED ring around the lens is too bright for night home use (though there may have been an option to disable this). The above issues aside the number one issue I have with this machine is that while the advertising said you could have the projector very close to the screen (helpful in tight quarters) I didn't realize that you HAVE to have the projector very close to the screen...as in 4-5 feet. Yes indeed when I dug into the specs I did see that the 'throw distance' was quite small. My mistake for missing that point but with there is effectively no way to use this project if your projector platform is further away, like mine at 12 feet. Finally, the controls to manage vertical pitch, optical zoom and interdependent and NOT intuitive. For anyone looking for a quick-to-set up, transportable projector...look elsewhere. This SONY all in one desktop is well built with a modern design, all though majorities of the exterior was made by plastic, but you can feel the solid quality once you lay your hands on it. Unlike other cheap looking all in ones like De**, or H*, this Sony's build quality is beyond my expectation at this price range.One thing I like to point out is: which running graphic intense application, with the fan running at full speed, I'm impressed how quite this unit maintain.Performance wise, at this price range, since most of these all in one has similar specs and are based on mobile CPU, you can't expect super fast speed from them. But I find this unit perfect in everyday use as a 2nd pc.

Do not get me wrong, the asus g75 is a great machine and I bought one just 3 days ago and love it! This one (AS71), however, has the week 660M graphics. This is not what most of you want. If you invest 30 more you will get the 670M that is about 20% faster. Aside of this warning, the asus g75 is a wonderful notebook with a great matt display and a low level of noise.

This Asus 74SX-DH73-3D laptop has gone way beyond my expectations!I have trouble even finding words to describe this laptop. Beautiful, sleek, powerful and truely plays games incredibly well! Looks like a stealth jet and built like a tank! I bought this laptop to play Battlefield 3 and Skyrim (when it comes out), never seeing a laptop play graphically intense games as well as a gaming desktop, I was doubtful. But after loading BF3 and firing it up, those doubts disappeared instantly! The auto graphic settings in the game set everything to ultra and high and plays at those levels without a glitch. Come on Skyrim!I did plenty of research and comparisons between this and other Asus g74,g73 and g53 models and the DH73-3D model won out, even despite its price. All the issues that other models have had have been fixed in this model. I keep trying to find a con or issue with this laptop but haven't yet other then the 3D mode switch next to the power switch only switched between different power modes until I did the 203 BIOs update(which was easy as pie, lol). This fixed the button to act only as a switch to turn on or off the 3D and switching between different power modes is now controlled by the function btn and space bar. Have I mentioned this laptop is freaking Sweet!!! 120hz Screen is WOW!!!! Worth the price difference from the models without it.The 3D is amazing and works so effortlessly. well, this is a no brainer review. APPLE! I am extremely happy with my decision to purchase through Amazon. Granted, Apple makes a newer version of the iMac. If you can still buy this one, you'll be happy. It's a workhorse. Also, this iMac has never failed me as my Macbook Pro has at times.Love Apple, Love Amazon. IF you're sitting on the fence to purchase lg ticket items through Amazon, stop it! You're missing out on great deals.

I've been building and using PCs for almost 20 years, but the last system crash finally provided the straw that broke my PC back. My daughter had been using a MAC for graphic art work and I was always impressed by the image and seemingly simple commands and user interface. She convinced me to go Mac, which I finally did with this purchase. Its fast, its relatively easy to use (but I'm still learning) and the graphics quality simply is the best I've ever seen. Most important to me however, is the security and lack of activity I observe on my anti-virus (aVast) and spy ware programs...that's a GOOD THING! The system runs faster, absolutely without question. I don't want to drone on about it, but I'm glad I switched, and my blood pressure has gone down as a result.One thing I do miss however, is the ability to really get into the system and be able to tweak it, access all its command structure and other geek aspects of Windows. Maybe there is a way to do it with Mac, but I haven't learned it yet.

I am not so much the PC gamer but I use applications which weigh heavily on the graphics card and processor.
